BIOGRAPHY
Lauren White is an artist born and raised in Minnesota. Growing up a few blocks from her grandmother made for a rich connection with her and her creative side. Gaining insight from her grandmother in sewing, ceramics and gardening lead to an interest in the arts. Lauren believes art is an outlet for personal expression as well as a tool that can be used to bring peace of mind and relaxation.
Lauren lets her passion for advocating the earth’s health come through in her work. Her view is that the earth’s health goes hand in hand with human’s health. It’s our job to maintain its health if we wish to sustain healthy and full living. She pays close attention to toxic impacts which exist for people’s health as well as the earths. While paying close attention to details in our natural world, those details resonate through her work with different mediums.
The focus in her paintings and drawing are to capture the naturally occurring features in realistic portraits, objects and still-life paintings. Distinct details are prominent in the work to emphasize intricacies nature has that sometimes go unnoticed. As for ceramics, focus on simple forms with infrequent alterations are created. She is intrigued by the chemical reactions which occur for the glazes of the pots at high temperatures. Lastly, the installation art’s message hones in on her activist mindset. An abundance of plastic use is exemplified to depict how plastic is an issue in our world and impactful to living things health.
